Ryan Beedie, President of Beedie
Ryan Beedie, President of one of Canada’s leading real estate development companies, has made a significant mark in business and philanthropy. Inspired by his father Keith, Ryan pursued his passion for real estate, obtaining his undergraduate degree from Simon Fraser University and an MBA from the University of British Columbia. He joined the family business in 1993 and became President in 2001, expanding Beedie’s footprint across North America and growing it into British Columbia’s largest industrial real estate owner.
The company now operates through three divisions: Beedie Industrial, Beedie Living, and Beedie Capital, all under the motto “Built for Good.” This ethos reflects the values of quality, integrity, and generosity that have guided Beedie for 70 years.
In addition to numerous business accolades, Ryan has received the Order of British Columbia and was named Canadian Business Leader of the Year by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. A Guinness World Record holder for “Most Pool Balls Potted Off the Break,” Ryan is equally passionate about giving back. He and his wife Cindy have committed over $140 million to more than 350 charities, continuing the family’s philanthropic legacy.
Keith Reginald Beedie (1926-2017), Founder and Former Chair of Beedie
Keith Beedie was a pioneering figure in construction and real estate development in British Columbia, known for his exceptional leadership and commitment to quality. In 1946, at just 19, Keith built his first concrete block building, and by 1954, he founded Beedie, a company built on values of quality, customer service, and loyalty. Under his guidance, Beedie grew to become one of Western Canada’s largest property development companies.
After transitioning leadership to his son, Ryan, in 2001, Keith and his wife Betty focused on philanthropy through The Keith and Betty Beedie Foundation, contributing generously to numerous organizations locally and globally. A major highlight of their giving was a $22 million donation to Simon Fraser University, establishing the Beedie School of Business.
A lifelong fan of the Vancouver Canucks, Keith remained a steadfast supporter, attending games well into his 80s. His legacy endures through Beedie and the philanthropic work that continues to impact communities in British Columbia and beyond.
