Jake Kerr, C.M., O.B.C., LL.D.

Chair, Mosaic Forest Management

Jake Kerr is a Canadian business executive, corporate director, and philanthropist whose leadership has shaped both industry and community across British Columbia and Canada. He currently serves as Chair of Mosaic Forest Management, following a distinguished 35-year tenure as Chairman and CEO of Lignum Limited, one of Canada’s largest private forest products companies. A respected leader in forestry, Jake chaired the Canadian Forest Industries Council and served as Canada’s Chief Negotiator during the 1996 softwood lumber negotiations with the United States.

Throughout his five-decade career, Jake has served as a corporate director for many of Canada’s leading organizations, including Rogers, Scotiabank, Bombardier Inc., TimberWest, Cominco, and BC Rail.

In 2007, Jake became the majority owner and managing partner of the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club through Vancouver Professional Baseball LLP, in partnership with Jeff Mooney. His dedication to the sport helped revitalize the team and deepen its community roots. In recognition of his contributions to baseball, he was inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame in 2023.

Jake earned his undergraduate degree from the University of British Columbia in 1965 and his graduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1967. He has received honorary degrees from Simon Fraser University and Emily Carr University of Art + Design, where he also served as Chancellor. In 2015, Emily Carr University honoured his longstanding support by naming the Jake Kerr Faculty of Graduate Studies.

An engaged community leader, Jake has chaired the Vancouver Foundation and St. George’s School and volunteered his time with organizations including St. Paul’s Hospital, BC Children’s Hospital, Vancouver General Hospital, Simon Fraser University, BCIT, and the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation. His exceptional service to business and philanthropy has been recognized with both the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia.
