CEO, The Futura Corporation

Amar Doman is the Founder, sole shareholder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of The Futura Corporation, one of British Columbia’s largest privately owned companies. Born into the forest products industry, Amar purchased his first lumber remanufacturing plant at just eighteen years old. In 1999, he acquired CanWel Building Materials from Canfor and Weldwood, taking the company public in 2004. Now known as Doman Building Materials, it has become one of North America’s leading producers of pressure treated lumber and distributors of large scale building materials. Amar remains the company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, as well as its largest and controlling shareholder.

Amar also serves as the largest and controlling shareholder and Executive Chairman of Tree Island Steel, a Richmond based North American manufacturer and supplier of premium quality nails, steel wire, and wire products used in construction, industry, and agriculture.

Through The Futura Corporation, Amar owns and operates a diverse portfolio of enterprises, including real estate holdings. Under his leadership, Futura employs more than three thousand five hundred people and achieved revenues exceeding three billion dollars in 2024.

Beyond business, Amar is the proud owner of the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League and an enthusiastic supporter of Canadian football. A passionate British Columbian and dedicated philanthropist, he has served on the boards of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the UBC and VGH Foundation, and several industry associations. A member of the Horatio Alger Association of Canada and recipient of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Amar continues to mentor young entrepreneurs and contribute generously to local charities.
