Natale “Nat” Bosa

Founder and Chairman, Bosa Development Corporation

Born in rural Italy in 1944, Natale “Nat” Bosa arrived in Vancouver at age 13. Three years later, he left school to work in construction, beginning a career spanning more than six decades.

In 1967, he co-founded Bosa Brothers Construction with his brother Arturo. Starting with wood framing, the company expanded into high-rise construction, and by the mid-1970s, Nat ventured into land development. His ability to anticipate changing markets and persevere through the recession of the early 1980s laid the foundation for Bosa Development in 1986.

Known for his bold vision and disciplined approach, Nat pioneered high-rise living in Vancouver and set benchmarks for mixed-use communities. His developments helped transform Vancouver’s Citygate, Whistler, Port Moody’s Newport Village, New Westminster’s waterfront, and Burnaby’s Brentwood Centre.

Nat also played a key role in revitalizing downtown San Diego, with developments extending to Victoria, Nanaimo, Maui, Calgary, Seattle, Bellevue, San Francisco, and Irvine. His portfolio includes residential, commercial, and industrial properties, film studios, and the Fairmont Empress Hotel. To date, he has delivered over 20,000 homes and built a commercial portfolio spanning 6.5 million square feet.

Beyond business, Nat and Flora’s philanthropy has supported education, healthcare, and the arts. Their contributions include the Nat and Flora Bosa Centre for Film and Animation at Capilano University, the Monarch School in San Diego, and the Lions Gate Hospital redevelopment campaign.

Recognized for his entrepreneurial leadership, Nat was inducted into the Urban Development Institute Hall of Fame in 2016 and received the Founders Award at the 2013 Alonzo Awards in San Diego.

More than six decades after picking up his first hammer, Nat remains guided by integrity, courage, innovation, long-term vision, and loyalty to the people and communities who shaped his journey.
